2018 Speedcubing Records Predictions

    • 0.50 single by Blake Thompson because lol. WR will still stay at 0.49 until December of 2018 when it will get beaten with a 0.47.
    • Kevin improves his WR average early in the year, but Maciej will end the year with the record. He will get some insanely easy scrambles, and get a 1.2 average
  • 4x4
    • Records galore by Sebastian! 18.24 single with a PLL skip and U2 AUF
    • Sebastian will unfortunately +2 out of a sub-21.5 average early in the year, but will get the WR at the end of the year with 21.23
  • 5x5

    • Feliks - 41.25 average. ‘Nuff said.

    • Kaijun keeps the single.
  • 5BLD
    • Kaijun keeps the single.

There will be a post on Speedsolving with exactly 24 people replying with something along the lines of “Aww, so close, you’ll get it next time!” Kamil also breaks the 40 point mark with exactly 40. He attempts 46, but time runs out while he is executing cube 44. The WR will still remain at 41 points by Maskow

  • Moyu comes out with a smaller Pyraminx.

This was fun to read :)
I really like how much specific detail you went into each event.

Tommy, Daniel and I each come within 1 second of Raymond's NAR mean near the end of the year, but Raymond had safely broken it with a sub-30 NAR average of 5 the month before. He also set a sub-25 single that wasn't NAR, because after Louis heard that Feet had been changed, he started practicing again and broke the NAR Single with a lucky 23.84 single and a disappointing NR 34.08 average.
Feet is again announced as an event for Nats 2019 due to the sustained popularity of the event across the country.
Feet remains as average of 5 and stays in the WCA.
WRs: 23.96a/18.47s
The Top 100 results will be sub-45a/40s

Since Simon finished learning ZBLL he manages an 8.76 ao5. Hyeon Kyo Kyoung switches to classic ZZ and gets another sub-6 PB, and beats Simon's average by about a second. Most people still reject ZBLL as a feasible LL technique for the average person though the method has grown slightly in popularity due to more prominent cubers using it and protesting its practicality. Similarly, ZZ gains more followers and has more than a dozen cubers set sub-10 averages.
Roux goes sub-6.5a/5.5s, OH sub-11/8 by Kian and Kavin respectively. Vincent manages a sub-7 average, and beats Kian's previous sub-7 PB. All three of them finally get a First place in OH.

Chris finds a way to magnetize cubes like he showed in that one video. Someone builds the cube he showed at Nats and it's not as good as everyone was hoping for, but people still like it a lot because everyone loves Chris.
He and Andrew get pretty good with ZZ-CT and both get multiple sub-11 averages with the method.

Yu-Da Hyun travles out of the country three times for competitions with megaminx and shatters Juan's records with a 27 single an 32 average, which he comes less than .5 seconds of breaking, but doesn't.

OH finally goes sub-10 since Seung improved a lot and got lucky scrambles. Someone slightly unexpected (not Antoine, Feliks, or Max) breaks the 6.88 with a 6.74 single. It's thought that the cube was also misscrambled, but it is slowly confirmed that the scramble and the solve are good.

In MBLD, two people get over WR and five people break the 40-point barrier. Nothing much happens in Cubic Big BLD WRs, but Stanley comes painfully close to 4BLD WR. Roman gets a sub3 at home and a 3:20 DNF in comp.
