16.22/14.82, 3rd, beat James H, Chris O, and Walker W.
Practice these events enough to be able to have a chance at completing these goals. I've got two weeks.
~800 3x3 solves, 200 Megaminx solves, 50 OH solves, 5 5x5 solves, 2.5 BLD solves (10m before the round started), 2 7x7 solves.
Warm, dry hands that don't lock up excessively.
Essentially only locked up on the 14.07 and the 15.65, both the first solves in the averages.
Don't do anything stupid with ZBLLs (I've forced H-perms in OH twice, realizing it halfway through the alg both times).
Yup. There weren't that many, but I did fairly okay executing them; I probably should drill them. Relearned 3 that I really needed to also.
Get the organizer to add a second round of OH
Oh but if I had I almost certainly wouldn't have kept my podium
Bring my friend to his first competition.
Nah he was busy but he wants to
Have fun, which I am actually bad at doing. I'm too competitive when competing at my competitions.
Well, I did pretty well competition wise, but I guess if I hadn't done so then I wouldn't have had fun.
Other Notes:
Last two 3x3 solves in R1 were COLL-> EPLL skip, but I wasn't able to recognize that. The single is .01 away from PB.
My first solve in 3x3 R2 was faster than James'. My delightfully childish reaction is on video and it's hilarious (to me).
I would have gotten a sub-1:50 average on 5x5 if my last solve were 2.13 seconds faster.
7x7 single is overall PB and my first sub-5.
One of the 3BLD solves was off just by parity but I didn't notice because I'm lazy. There was a 2:48 but I don't remember by how much it was off.
OH.
Was.
Insane.
I'm essentially still hyped about beating Chris to the OH podium by the .23 seconds. I ran two laps around the, albeit small, building after I finished the average because knew that I had done really well. I had to tell myself a dozen times that it was going to be 4th but then just asked the organizer if I had podiumed.
The average could have been sub-16 if the last solve was .67 seconds faster but I'm trying not to dwell on that
I'm not sure if this or my 1:02 megaminx average was a better experience.
