I stumbled across this today and was rather surprised at the results:
I was trying to find a way of distinguishing my cube from other people's so I put a magnet on the screw and thought it would be fun to put them on all the screws and to my surprise it felt very loose without the increased risk of pops and corner twists that would usually come from loose tensions, the extra speed reduces need for lubrication as well.

I found with this cube that it felt too loose and with this I can't just tighten it, if anyone has any very weak magnets please try this and tell me the results as I feel it may be useful.

Don't see why it wouldn't be WCA legal if you modded all six centres the same way (so they're not distinguishable by feel).

Kind of curious about how this works though. Could you post a photo of where the magnets were placed?

E: I thought I had a loose magnet in my DIY magnetised cube (because I didn't have superglue at the time), but it seems to have… glued itself back? Guess I'll have to buy new magnets to try this out.

I am having some problems uploading media but input them right in the middle ontop of the screw.

Oh my, I just tried this on my Yuexiou Pro M and you're right, it does make it feel looser
