B' L F2 R2 D' F D F' R2 F2 L' B // 1LLL

Forgive me, this is my first time trying ZZ for a solve. I could never do this as a speed method.

Now let's see where my usual FMC method takes me:
30 STM
D R2 L' * D2 B' // 2x2x2 block
U2 M F M' // expand 2x2x3
D' F' R' D2 R U' F' U L' F' D // to L5C

Insert at * = R2 B2 L ** U2 L U2 L2 B2 R D2 R D2
Insert at ** = L' B2 L F' L' B2 L F

I suppose I'm not good at ZZ :P .

The first try for something is always the hardest, but then it gets easier. If you are going to try ZZ more, then work on blockbuilding with EO Pre-Solved. The thing after that is just your EOLine, and maybe partial color neutrality.

26 STM (Technically 24 STM with the double moves) with ZZ. That was a pretty easy scramble with the free block.

R B2 D2 F R2 D U' B' R F R2 D' F' L2 R2 B D' L2 R2 D U R2 F2 23 moves

First, I found a 7-move corner solution on inverse:
( F L' U' F' D2 F2 R')
switch to normal:
R F2 D2 F U L F'
Based on this, I found the following solution:

R B2 D2 F R2 D U' B' R F' all corners and orient all edges,
F2 R2 D' F' L2 R2 B domino reduction,
D' L2 R2 D U R2 F2
