Are there any algorithms for slicing 4x4 centers while preserving the edges?

Hmm...once a while I get situation where all my 4x4 dedges are solved but my centers are one slice away... it gets annoying and I have to slice it back and use my slow method by swaping the edges one by one to solve it(as in position 2 dedges beside and perform d R U R' F R' F' R d' , and need perform 2~3 times of that...which takes me up to 15~30 secs)... so I am trying to search if there are any algorithms that can slice the centers without affecting the solved dedges? sorry if there is already a thread that talked about that...but I could not find it with the search function..

2R means? r2? Rw2?

and for that (U2 2R)x5 is swap 2 opposite centers? I am trying to find an algorithm that can slice the centers as in>> example : green top blue bottom... then white pair(2x1 block) go to orange(2x1 block)>> go to yellow(2x1 block) >> go to red(2x1 block) >> go back to white.. without affecting the dedges..

Damn you Lucas, I was hoping to see some alternative answers before that one.
Neutrals: Does the applet not work for you or why do you have to ask that?

hmm..I don't think that is the answer I am looking for..

my method is solve centers first then dedges... while pairing up dedges.. the last 2 or 3 dedges...sometimes I have to slice once more to solve all the 12 dedges...but then with that slice... the centers are misalined by 1 slice...

hmm...I don't really know how to use that applet..? a quick tutorial?(there are some stuffs on the right but I can't view it)

What happens if you do another (Rw R') turn after it? ;)

If you only want to swap center cubies, you can use algs from centers last methods :D For example:
E2 l E2 l u2 l2 u2
or E2 l' E2 l' u2 l2 u2 for the other direction.

Watch LanceTheBlueKnight's video on how to solve the last two centers on a 7x7. I would link you but I'm on a slow connection. Its Very useful.

Yes I'm not posting in the wrong thread, watch it.

Try (U2 Rw)6

(Lucas, your link text alg doesn't match the actually linked alg, it's off by a U2)
I know. The important part (the way the alg is known) was the 5 times, the extra U2 makes the applet understandable, and I didn't just wanna hand him the 6. So I decided that it wasn't worth trying to dissolve the discrepancy when I'm already hoping he has a brain.

EDIT: After I move the location of SiGN, I'll implement a button for automatically generating URLs for forums, so then I'll be too lazy to allow discrepancies in my own pastes.
Got a good name? eCube's kinda taken, LCube/LGCube's kinda selfish.
cube.garron.us/alg.php?
alg.garron.us?

hmm..I know it is in blue....and I clicked it but I don't seem to know how to use it... and on the right of that page..there is a picture or something but I cannot view it...

and thanks Stefen....that is what I am looking for ^_^ guess I am confused with the 2R thingy...which I thought was r2 or r...

but after performing that it solved 2 centers..now another 2 more centers havent solve..2 pairs beside each other

red red | red red
green green | green green

how to swap it to correct location without affecting the other centers and solved dedges? sorry I do not know how to use the applet... >.<

Assuming R is red and F is green, you can do:
d M U2 M' d'
That's juste d F2 d' with F2 replaced by M U2 M' in order not to affect the middle layer dedges.

From what i understand i'm assuming you're doing 3 edge pairing at a time? I think if you follow syuhei's edge pairing method this problem will be rare..

or better, just switch to 2-gen =p

well I am randomly using the pairing method...sometimes 3 by 3..sometimes 1 by 1..sometimes 2 by 2...see situation...and sometimes got this problem...

TMOY : thx for that algo...now finally can solve the last 2 pairs ^_^...

Stefen : thanks for the algo too... ^_^

Still don't know exactly how you build the edges, but I have a feeling that this is the result of a mistake which would better be prevented rather than made and fixed. Unless you pay with that situation for an advantage. Then it's really a trade-off issue.
