[Help Thread] How can I get sub x on 3x3?

I got a 13.09 average at Atlantic Open 2015 (Atlantic Canada) with about 40 competitors and I got second place XD. First place got 12.65 but he had a bad run (I think he has an official sub-10, not really sure. If not extremely close). Besides, we have another sub-11guy but he keeps not showing up to competitions. we're kind of a developing cubing community though (we've only started having official comps regularly for about a year and a half) so we're all still working hard to get faster.

I think I'll start getting podiums sort of soon, I'm getting faster :P (Maybe sometime... lol)

Let's just say St. Louis area is the absolute worst place in the US to live for cubing purposes. I've only been to one comp that is under 200 miles from here. At the small competitions (40 competitors) that I have been to, the 3rd place was sup-13.

Lol. Try Louisiana

Hello comrades.

I need some help to get faster for my first competition in melbourne! as I am moving there in 2 weeks!.
Here is a avg of 5 14.49 which is a ok avg for me. please ignore the commentary.
Here is a breakdown of my times.
Cross 1.8-2 seconds ish, x cross are not great for me but working on it.
F2l is done by 8-10 seconds but I think I am decent at it, my F2l has been much better lately as I have increased turnspeed while maintaining lookahead I feel.
OLL- I know 37/57 but A lot of my algs are nasty :(
PLL- really good at PLL know all 21 and can sub 1.5 all, and can sub 1 12 of them.
LL is around 5-6 seconds in total

I would really like to get sub 12 by august, do you think it is possible? and how would I go about doing this?

I don't think you attached the video!

Here's a video of me solving 5 cubes

I get ~23 seconds on average and always sub 25 if I don't mess up really bad.
I've learned F2L, PLL, half the OLL cases, VHLS (I only use the fast cases), and know a couple of COLL cases.
I'm practicing look ahead and am trying to learn all the OLL cases, after that I'll start learning COLL
What do you guys suggest me to do to get sub 20 averages?

I can plan out the cross in inspection and get it done ~2-3 seconds.

You shouldn't need very advanced stuff to improve beyond 23 seconds. Not even 1L OLL, even if it is not too hard to learn the 50-something algs or at least the best cases.

So, instead of focusing on learning new stuff like COLL, VHLS... I'd concentrate in cross+F2L and, specifically in lookahead. Almost anybody is able to turn fast enough to do a full solve (about 50-60 moves) in like 12 seconds, the only problem to get there is good lookahead and fast recognition, so I'd work on that. Regading how to practise that there are several ways, like blindsolving F2L pairs, with /without metronome slow solving...

Also drilling your OLL and PLL algs but most importantly improving recognition (two-sided PLL recog, etc.) can also save you a second or two.

I'm right now barely sub-20 and when I do a 14.xx or even sub-14 second full-step solve (I don't have many of those, I have to admit) the only difference with the 18-22 sec solves is good lookahead, fast recognition and good flow (not trying to turn faster than I'm able to, because when I do that I get lockups). So, for me, the path from sub-20 to sub-15, at the moment would be just being able of solving like that most of the time, instead of just very rarely. And after that, being able to do that faster while not losing lookahead. Only at sub-12 or so I'd say one needs to invest in more advanced stuff. Obviously, if you like learning algs (I do) you can also work as you go on COLL and other stuff but I don't think COLL is going to make you improve a lot in 2h (perhaps a bit more in OH). What I'm doing for now is whatch ciothekings lear an alg series, which includes some nice last slot algs, etc.

Hope it helps. I for one have been stuck at around 20ish mark for far too many months already so, I must not be very good at following my own advice :(

EDIT: After watching your solves the two-three things I've identified you could work on are:
1) lookahead as expected;
2) avoid cube rotations and insert pairs in back slots (which also helps lookahead as you can see the free pieces in the front);
3) OLL/PLL execution seemed okay for your speed but recognition could be improved.

help how to solve 3x3 under 20 or 15 seconds

Hello master. I solve my 3x3 rubiks cube in 30 to 40 seconds. Using cross. F2l. Pll. oll. (Fridrich method)
How did u get solve under 20 or 10seconds? ? Is there any shortcut method that u will do?

Sorry for my bad english.
Thanks advance.

Keep practicing. If you are able, please put a video on YouTube with a few of your solves. Then we can see if you are having problems, and maybe we can tell you how to fix those problems.

I'm pretty new to speed solving. Only about 2 months. Trying to to break the sub 40 barrier. My PB is 33.35. My PB Ao5 is 40.56. I'm regularly averaging about 45. The video was actually a slower solve.

I strongly suggest improving your F2L. You seem to be messing up pairs you've finished already when you're inserting pairs. You should should also practice recognizing and inserting F2L cases (try solving F2L pairs blindfold, if you can do this, you'll be able to solve them quicker and without thinking about every move you do)

Is there anything that I could watch or read. I won't lie when learning f2l I didn't really do the proper research. I just googled. How to solve a Rubik's cube faster. And watched the first video. So I feel like I've missed a lot. And there is somethings I don't really understand.
