[Help Thread] How can I get sub x on 3x3?

How to practice/improve times?

I'm working on getting sub 40 - 35.

Here's my usual splits:
6-10 seconds: cross
10-29: f2l
30-45 or more: oll + pll

I notice that I have pauses and turn a little bit slow too.

If you could even make me a practice plan, or some practice drill, that would be AMAZING! I plan on practicing an hour per day or more. Just tell me how long to work on each thing.

Thanks!

With your splits, do yo mean that your cross takes 6-10s, f2l takes 19s, and your LL takes 15 seconds? I'm gonna assume that's the case.

For your speed, your splits look pretty decent. I would probably spend about fifteen minutes on cross, fifteen on f2l, ten minutes or so drilling algs, and then the rest of the time timing.

I inspect the cube past the inspection time of 15 seconds, so I count the additional time it takes me as part of my solve. It always takes me over a minute to inspect for a good eoline solution.

I just have to practice more to get sub 3.00.00

It sounds like you're timing yourself when you're not yet ready. Just solve at a relaxed pace. If you're taking so long to plan out your eoline, then it's possible you have not yet built up a good understanding of how each move affects pieces. Try taking it one move at a time, and see where each other edge moves to. Don't worry about the line, just do EO. Scramble the cube, fix the EO, and then check that you did it right. Then scramble the cube again, and do it over and over. Try do just this for at least 30 minutes a day, if you can. When you can tell if an edge is bad without having to think of the rules, and when all the four-bad-edge cases start to become familiar, you're ready to start timing yourself again.

EO is by far the most difficult part of a ZZ solve, so it's important that you master it first. Once EO is done, the line is just 3 easy moves, and the rest of the solve should come naturally.

FIRST you need to learn how to solve the cube before even timing yourself, if you know how to solve it you wouldnt take more than 1 min 30 secs

Inspect the cube bro, thats why u got inspection time, impossible to solve cross in 6 seconds if you inspect, then i will assume instead of inspecting your cross you use your inspection time just to prepare your hands or something, LL 15 secs? learn full pll and try other ways to recognizing cases

Don't assume that everyone can solve a cross in 6 seconds even with inspection. If you're just starting out cubing, then it will take quite a while to get everything down intuitively.

Just wanna improve

Cross ao5: 1.33, 2.19, 1.67, 1.65, 1.40
F2L ao5: 8.80, 8.71, 9.05, 9.28, 7.32
LL ao5: 5.14, 5.10, 4.33, 5.86, 4.01

What do I need to make faster and how?

How do I get a 40 second average. Right now my average is 1 minute 11 seconds and I know two look oll, and two look pll.
However I sometimes mess up during f2l by forgetting how to solve a case and that worsens my time. But usually this doesn't happen Should I just do untimed solves and practice f2l with that? Should I also work on my oll and pll recognition?

This is the cube I use:

Thanks :)

So my average right now is 1 minute 11 seconds using f2l, two look oll, and two look pll. When I used the beginners method my average was 2 mins. How can I move this down to 40 seconds? Right now I still haven't gotten the advanced cross down and I need to work on my f2l. Should I just do untimed solves so I can figure out how to solve the f2l cases because sometimes I forget how to solve a case? Also I use shenshou 3x3 so should i get a new cube.

When you are still a beginner, it would be better just to play around with the cube and do untimed solves as you said. Especially in the beginning, you can improve lots by pure practise. You just need to get used to the method you are using and you will improve a lot.

Should I focus on anything specific?

You'd better post a video in the Solve Critique thread, so we can give you a specific advice.
