when I first made an account I didn't realize this intros were a thing so, I'll make it now
I've been speedcubing around 3 months I started in February-ish, long ago when I was little I was subscribed to RedKB cause I thought all his puzzles were neat and stuff. so then I started watching him again and I got to find other cubing related things such as speedcubing and 4x4's and stuff. I had always thought that the Rubiks Cube was not impossible since others could do it, but very hard. I saw that he had a tutorial on how to solve one, and I thought to myself that I should least solve one in my lifetime because I knew I'd be competent enough to do the task. what I found was that it was quite fun and relaxing, a chill thing to do, another way to pass time and keep my hands busy aswell. I was able to solve it in less than a minute with a LBL method from redKB which seemed crazy for me. I found out that my friend James was into cubing, he had a Sulong (or so he says it was a Sulong) it was quite fast and I thought it was the craziest thing cause I was using a slow shengshou that I got from ebay. I gave my shengshou to my friend who I taught how to solve the cube with LBL, and then I got myself a dayan zhanchi, mini one (also from ebay lel). I ended up giving that zhanchi to another friend cause it was just not for me at all. Then I found out that my other friend Andrew was into cubing, and one day in school he brought out his fangshi shuangren.
I knew I had to get one, so I did. but then I came to the conclusion upon myself that it was a faulty model, cause it was just..bad in every way. well that's my fault for buying from ebay again right. And now, the cube I've settled on is a Gans 357 because on mines it can corner cut anywhere, and is incredibly smooth. Then some days later I thought I had mastered the LBL so I wanted to expand upon it. The only other thing I could find that was most similar to what I was already doing was CFOP, and I already had a decent foundation to start on it. at first I learned F2L with algorithms, and I was helpless on cases I didn't know, and I didn't even try.I used to think pairing was putting a corner in, then it's corresponding edge in a specific slot where it belonged. So I watched example solve videos, and saw how I could manipulate pieces to get them in a favorable position, and then I learned F2L intuitively from henceforth. After that I just was practicing a bunch, learned a ton of PLLs and stuck with 2-look OLL which I still am doing now, however I know quite a decent amount of 1 look cases. I still haven't learned G-b or G-d perms.
eh sorry for the long paragraphs, anyway I average around low 20's and occasionally I get 28's or so cause I'm inconsistent at the moment. I got one 14.07 very recently because I had a very easy x-cross (I'm color neutral) I slowed down and looked for pairs instead of trying to be fast, I did 2-look OLL and got a corner skip, then Z-Perm, so I was extremely happy.
