I am kinda stuck, with an average of just over 20 seconds. I don't really know exactly what to do to get better, other than to learn the rest of OLL.
OLL is hard to learn, I'm going to have to put a lot of effort into that.

R' F [R U R' U'] F' U R... L F' [L' U' L U] F U' L'...
My gosh all these algorithms are hard to remember.

I am at about the same average. For me, the difference between a 22 second solve and a 17 second solve is not OLL, it's fluid F2L and lookahead.

OLL is nice to have and it will definitly improve your times. So if you want to get much much better you need to learn OLL anyway, so learning it now wouldn't be dumb.

But in my opinion lookahead and F2L în general is a very important to practice and it will drop your times drastically.
Train lookahead sounds like pain in the ass, but if you do some slow solves with no pause everyday, you'll get this technique very fast!

But practicing how much you want and having fun is the most important thing!

But OLL, will improve his times. If he is willing to learn it, why discourage him.
You are right and I don't mean to discourage him from learning OLL or anything else new and fun, but his post expressed frustration with learning OLL and implied a question about what else he could try.

You are right partner. Sometimes in solves when my look ahead is great and I havent even stopped once between my pairs, I get sub 15 with 2 look oll. Otherwise my solves are crap and I average 16-17 :p

Practice.

Srsly. There is no secret or special way to learn. Solve often, learn constantly but at a pace that you enjoy and works for you.

-OLL is definitely a huge benefit. If you are around 20 seconds. You need to learn you LL algs. You can get sub-20 without them but that is stupid. Practice your LL algs so you can do them well.
-Do untimed solves and focus on lookahead; make sure you can solve F2L without pauses. Start slow then increase speed as you can do this easily.
-Don't use inspection times. Take 30+ seconds if you need to. Practice building a full BLD cross on the bottom in your head before you start to solve. Once you do that easy enough start trying to predict an F2L corner that will be on the top layer after you complete you cross.
-Try to solve everyday and don't do too many other events for a bit.

If you are having trouble learning algs. Make a chart for all OLLs and apply one alg to each. Practice 2 a day minimum. Usually an OLL makes another or itself. If it makes itself. Drill that one alg over and over. Remember with finger tricks or triggers (R U R' U').

The word about improving

Learning full oll is quite easy some cases are just a sexy move with a setup move and algorithms like sunes and niklas, you have to always practice you could learn CPLL with has 42 cases and uses slightly less moves. Try learning new algorithms repetitively and sometimes do them without looking. Use your inspection well and learn fancy tricks like skipping oll. Also f2l plays a big part because it take more than halve your solve and if you are slow its probably your f2l, never rush slow down and do the actuall algorithms, you times will get slow and will improve later on, to get sub 20 averages you should have the steps done by:

Time stamps during solves-
Cross:0:02
F2L:0:13
OLL:0:16
PLL:0:18.5

It was written by many cubers in tandem. Most of it was written by PcWizCube

Well grammatical errors aside, I really dislike this one:

Don't buy fast cubes like Weilong, Shuangren until sub 15, you can easily be sub 15 with Aurora, or Chilong, those cubes moght be too fast for you

You can get sub 7 with a Wind probably. On the 15-20 sec goal, it mentions getting OLLs and PLLs under 3 secs. But nah, apparently an AoLong won't help me do that.

Wait, I made grammatical errors! My apologies.
Who said the bold statement? Me? I made posts like that when I was a nub.(Well, I'm still a nub). Yeah, I hate such statements too. "moght" Lel :)
