This subject has been up many times. "COLL" = "corners of the last layer", the same as "CLL", but it should be "corner orientation of the last layer"

What we do when we do COLL is corner orientation + permutation in one go = CO + CP...

COP! (or possibly COPLL)

Newer get busted again, become a COP user! :D

Seriously, how about that name?

There's SO many different ways to do the last layer, if you count all the things like pre-oriented edges, phased edges, ZZ-d corners, 2x2x2 cubes and so on. It's hard to find a proper name for everything, I think any name is fine as long as people know what it means.

COP = corners orient permute.
Only will be useful for some weird method that solves corners first. Not layer by layer.
PEOPLE= permute edge orient permute last edges??
Does not make sense.

Is it an alg that permutes and orients all edges except those that are last to finish?

My problem with COLL is that it's slightly too long and awkward to say out loud. The "see oh ell" combo has too many vowels in succession.

Soylent Green last layer!

I don't get that?, orientation and permutation of the corners is exacly what COLL does.

Don't pronouse the lettres as it was written C.O.L.L. read it as a word, like cool but having a short "o". CLL on the other hand will be C.L.L., just like P.L.L. but OLL is a word. (this is the difference between an abbrevation and an acronym)

COP doesnt specify if it is for the last layer only or the whole cube.

Note to beginners: theres no such thing as COP, just a make believe thing. Treat it as a joke.

Just a precaution in case someone gets confused.

I don't understand why the standard isn't cOLL = Corners Orientation of Last Layer and CLL = Corners of Last Layer.

I pronounce COLL "call", so it's faster than CLL ("cll..." not really a formed word yet). Then again, I pronounce everything with a word rather than spelling (almost).

Then COLL might as well be algs for orienting LL corners, ignoring everything else (including EO). Except almost no one ever does that.

That could be EICOLL = edge-independent corner orientation of last layer. Sure, it's bulky, but then again, no one ever does that.

How about calling it CLLOP (Corners of Last Layer, Orient+Permute) or CLLEO (Corners of Last Layer, Edges Oriented)? How about PeCS (Petrus, make Corners Solved)? Or maybe you prefer COSMO (Corners in One Step, Middles Oriented).

More seriously I do agree that we could use a better name, since nothing about the acronym COLL tells me the edges are oriented (and remain so), and I'd really prefer to be able to use it for just orienting the corners (like EOLL, ECLL, CPLL). Oh well.

Nothing about the names "qqwref" nor "Michael Gottlieb" tells me that you do big cubes fast, I just learn it and know it, like the fact that COLL means edges are oriented.

I prefer Lars' tactic of just giving names, like Sune and Bruno. I think we should call COLL "Benjy".
