Mystery FocalPrice Cube - Updated
Today I received my order from FocalPrice.com, another website similar to DealExtreme, and to my surprise I did not receive totally what I had ordered. Yes, I'd ordered a 3x3 in the style of a Japanese Speedcube Kit but it did not look quite like this.
I ordered an almost professional looking kit hoping it would be somewhat similar to a JSK. Later on I found that the manufacturer was those who produced the Type D, I came to expect that I would receive a Black Type D.
When I opened the packaging I had a robot staring back at me, I couldn't remember ordering a robot, I pulled out the rest of the box and hey presto - a childrens' style JSK! It still had the little bottle of lubricant and the miniature screwdriver, the only thing was, it was surrounded by flowers and butterflies...
Now the brand seemed to be 'Kaiyue Toys', not YJ Toys like I had ordered. I unboxed the cube and gave it an initial turn, choppy and similar to an unlubed Type C. I then popped off all the centre-caps to firstly to see if I recognised the screws and secondly to actually adjust them. I also checked the core; that could also have hinted at what type it is.
All I can really say about the cube right is "I hate it, I think it might have been a waste of money", I actually said that. I havn't solved it enough for it to be broken in or get a full idea of what it is like. I've been playing with it for the whole time that this has been written, adjusting it, trying to break it in and generally get a feel for it. I think it has potential, or at least I hope so.
So does anyone have any idea what it could be? It has painted colours on the cube with a white core. The 'fitting' on the centre caps is similar to an original Type A with just a square of plastic to hold it in. I'd be happy to take a few more photos if that would be of any use.
If anyone is interested it came with a booklet, just like the official JSK, displaying the beginner's method to solving the cube and every algorithm you could want for CFOP. The trouble is I don't speak Chinese.
