Iacob method
| ||||||||||||||||||||||
Iacob is a speedcubing method invented by Iacob Razvan in February 2023. It relies heavily on algorithms but also on intuition, making this a likable and fast method.
Steps
1. Solve EO and build a pseudo face on the D layer without the DFR corner (EoFace-1C)
2. Solve the E layer
3. Insert the DFR corner while orienting the top layer corners (CLS)
4. Fix parities and permute the last & first layers. You can use PLL on both layers or do PLL and IPFL
WV Variant
1. Solve EoFace-1C
2. Solve 3-Quarter Belt
3. Path A- Make a pseudo pair with the remaining corner and belt edge, then use Winter Variation (27 algorithms) to insert the pair while orienting the to layer.
Path B-Do WV or SV to insert your last pair.
4. Do step 4 as normal.(PLL and IPFL).
Pros
- Rotation less
- Low amount of regrips
- High TPS
- After the first two steps the rest of the solution is algorithmic
- The 4th step is really fast (without pauses) since you can see the IPFL case before permuting the last layer
Cons
- Relies on inspection
- Since block-building is being used in the first step/steps efficiency is needed. If you are not being efficient it's hard to succeed with this method.
- More algorithms than CFOP and Roux combined.(Daylen Hall Variant attempts to lower the algorithm count.)
Improvements
- 1-look last step (PBL)
- Combine the first two steps to lower the move count
Example Solve
- Not really the best solution, but you can get the basics from it.
