That's like asking are Luke Garrett and Luke Griesser brothersIs the two Ziyu brothers (lol) If yes we have the brother duo WR
it hasn’t even been a month
lol I'm just stupid at namesThat's like asking are Luke Garrett and Luke Griesser brothers
In fact the two Ziyu are not even the same words
3 WR averages in 2 comps is crazyBrought down to 24.76 apparently!
Yeah, obviously 1 second is not materially wasting time. But it's obvious that he intentionally got a worse result than he could have, presumably so he could break the world record more easily in the future. I'm not saying this should be retroactively DNF'd, but this seems to fall under the spirit of getting an "intentionally poor result." Obviously it's not poor in the sense that it's not world class or something, but in the sense that he was clearly not trying to get the best time he could have. Like imagine if Max Park just decided to stall 5 seconds after each 7x7 solve, he'd arguably still be the fastest solver in the world, but I think that would not sit right with people. Are you talking about him pausing for 1 second at the end? I would hardly call it wasting time. Or are you saying he got a purposely slow time so he could break a record again? A 25.304 is still a world class time. There are only 10 or so people in the world who have that single officially.
So this financial prize for wr would support the point made by this user below ?Full 24.76 avg
Some people in the comments said cube sponsors pay a prize for every WR, which would be a financial (perverse) incentive to farm WRs

I agree, after watching the avg i feel like the solves that seem to be sandbagged so they might be able to break wr in future should be penalised in some way or form.I feel like intentionally sandbagging like that should be against the rules. There's this reg:
2k6) Does not fulfill the event's requirements (e.g. not knowing how to solve the puzzle). A competitor should not compete with the expectation of a DNF result or an intentionally poor result.
2k6+) CLARIFICATION WCA Delegates should only use their discretion to prevent competitors from being a severe detriment to the competition (e.g. wasting time and/or competition resources). Competitors should not be disqualified for a "poor" result when they are competing to the best of their abilities.
But in this case I suppose you could argue he didn't start the solve trying to get an intentionally poor result (he still needed a world-class solve for WR, and I'm sure if he was on WR single pace he wouldn't have sandbagged). But I feel like what he did was clearly not in the spirit of the competition. I know way back in the day, Rami Sbahi did a 2x2 average as 2BLD (knowing he could pass the first round either way), but in that case there were obviously no stakes. I think it's a bad look to have official WRs where people are doing things like this.
