[Unofficial] Yu Nakajima 5x5x5 1:49 on V-cube

Again, my beef isn't with Nakajima at all. I'm actually saying that he's an amazing cuber, and that it's expected for him to get fast. I just don't see why we need to post every single vid Nakajima puts on youtube, with exactly the same reactions. Half the people are "OMG HE's F'n AMAZING" and then others really couldn't care less.

@Harris, I agree, this is sort of like Michael's video, but it's not just that. For some reason, people think whatever Nakajima does is amazing. It doesn't seem to matter how good he is relative to others, it's just that he's the only person in the world who matters. Getting a 1:49 single solve doesn't even put him close to the WR times, which is why I don't see why people are going nuts over this.

Getting sub-2 isn't hard when you are already insanely fast at 3x3. He obviously has the skill as a cuber, and just needed to really pick up a 5x5... It's not like most people (at least me) who started 5x5 when they were still not that good at 3x3. 5x5 is all about not having delays, and it looks like Nakajima is getting better at that. Hopefully I can stay ahead of him, but I can't wait for him to be averaging 1:35, it'll give me more of an excuse to practice...

1. Agree. He actually IS amazing, but his 5x5 skills are far away from his 3x3 ones. (and so are mine :( ).

2. Another agree: Although 1:49 is a really good time, there is no reason to go bananas about it. I mean, he's Yu Nakajima, of course he's good!

3. ... No comment ... (I average 2:50 on the 5x5, being occasionally Sub-12 on the 3x3...) So I guess I need to practise more.

and saying that he is cubing only for 2 hours a day i HUGE LIE dont you see that ? sorry in 2 months he is down to 1:49 from 2:18 ;/? in 5x5 on that lvl is veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery hard and he was also solving any other puzzles

with less than 2 hours of practising 5x5 a day (probably 30-45 minutes in two days) i dropped from 2:50 average to 2:20 average in two weeks, it's not that awesome.

Nakaji didn't do 1:49 in two weeks, either. He did 2:1x SINGLE solve. So really, that's not impressive.

I think it's great that Yu is starting to get into other puzzles. And his progress on all of them has been impressive so far. But while it is impressive, it is also very logical that he is so fast at reaching good times. The real question is if he will keep on improving untill he reaches incredible times?

Just a small comparison: On 3x3x3 Yu and me (sounds funny) are on a completely different level and I have no chance of reaching him. On 5x5x5 I am only 12 seconds behind this solve and I am pretty sure he is at least 12 seconds faster on the final 3x3x3 stage compared to me. That means that he has the potential to be way faster and that 1:49 is indeed not a good time for him.

Fast edit: 1:32 is already way more impressive. Now let's see if he can drop another 5 seconds or if he has reached a plateau.
