[Unofficial] Yu Nakajima: 3x3x3 etc... Cubing for the first time in 3 months

I think that getting to X speed is really dependant on how much time you have for cubing too. I started cubing in April 2008 and I only just got my first sub-20 avg about a week ago. This is because I just don't have hours and hours to cube every day.

Thanks BTW, IamWeb

I would still consider Yu Nakajima as one of the favorites for Worlds 2009. Especially because he will be defending his title and can win a lot of money

I think you might be pushing your luck a bit there. He said he will quit after the Japan Open if he isn't interested; I don't think he would be prepared to go all the way to Germany if he has lost interest.

Guys guys, it's all just a trick to make us believe that he is not practicing anymore. Didn't you notice he's only slow solving so we don't see his real speed? He's just fooling us and then he will show up at WC and beat us all!
</joking>
And srsly guys, who gives a damn who's better? We're BOTH cool guys ;) That's the cool thing about cubing, you can be fan of Arsenal and Manchester AND Chelsea at the same time without being beaten up... (and I'll punch everyone in the face who disagrees with me ;) ;) )

Well put.

I don't get the graph.

I think it's showing the average ranking in the events...

And it'll be sad to see Yu leave, but we've gotten by fine without him for a few months, so we should be okay. Just hope that Erik doesn't leave with him...
There is no graph (graph is short for graphic) and I included the rankings for single AND average.

Some changes on that list after today though because of Dan doing a minor competition thingy at his house

And Erik might be joking, but I really think Yu is just fooling around on those video's. His fingerspeed is way lower than normal and he stops the timer......after letting granny cross the street.
He WILL be there at worlds. He WILL seriously defend his title. He WILL rock. But will he rock hard enough to win? That's the question!

Yu nakajima is tricking us. Next comp he will pwn. LOOK! He did a slow solve and lazily put down the cube and stopped the timer and he got sub 14 .
Now imagine him at full speed.

What the hell? I've been cubing for almost 3 months and I'm still sup-30! How is this possible?
Dude.... that's normal. It took me like 5 months to get sub 30. Over a year and I'm only like 15-17 seconds :( He probably was very determined to get really fast at that time.

In order to be really fast... you first have to invest the time. I was sub 18 in about 4-5 months. But, to get to this speed, I spent hours and hours... literally 10 hours on some days non stop cubing. Now I'm sub 11 :) (Sometimes)

Looks like his rubik's magic skills has gotten rusty. I remember one video at a competition where he started the timer, solved it, and walked away. In less than two seconds I think? Everyone was like: "whoa..."

However, for a long time Yu hadn't registered. Around the time that registration was reaching it's limits, he wasn't there yet.
He had to have known about it, and so he probably debated on whether to go or not, and chose to, thus signing up.

Then again, the 'just in case' thing works too. He may have signed up just in case he decided he liked cubing enough to go.

He was the greatest turner of the Cube (if you know what I mean). I saw his 47.xx solve BLD video and you actually feel sorry for the Cube.

One of the greatest speedcubers ever. Hope he does not quit

I agree his finger speed is incredible
You should see the way he does OLL parity alg on the 4x4... its crazy stuff

To be honest... Yu-san won't lose his interest after Japan Open.
After you have been to a competition you get sicked up for the next one (especially when it's around the corner).

If you don't go to a competition for a long time, why practice?
^^Unofficial times are not that important in my opinion.
