Would going to this comp be worth it?

I have a dilemma and I'm not sure if it would be worth it to go to this comp. I'd just like some advice, especially if y'all have had any similar issues. So there's a two day comp in December that I really want to go to, the problem is that it is a 4 1/2 hour drive. I brought it up to my mom and she didn't really give me an answer but she didn't seem too fond of the idea considering how far away it is. It also has every event that I do besides clock, so I think it would be worth my time. I think the only way they will let me go though is if I pay for the comp and part of the gas and hotel money, but idk if using my money to go would be wise. (They've already got all my Christmas presents) There also seems to be an 100 mile radius that comps occur in around my area, so often they are at least 2 hours away. Should I convince my parents to take me, or should I just give up on the idea?

That's something you have to decide. Is a comp with basically all your events worth that cost? I went to a comp 4 hours away just to do 1 round of 3x3 since the last time there was a comp in my state was 2018 and a 6 hour drive away.

Of course, it's ultimately your decision but I think if you have a job and it's not coming out of some savings I think you should go for it.

I think this depends a lot on how many comps are there that would be closer. If it doesn’t look like it then try but don’t take it too far

Okay, thank you for your responses. I know that I ultimately have to make the choice, but I just wanted some input. I wasn't sure if I should just wait for next year to see if there are any good comps. There has never been a comp closer than 2 hours to where I live, and there are some comps sort of frequently, but they often don't have many events or are too far. There are two other comps closer to me, but the issue is that one only has three events and is two hours away, so I didn't think it would be worth it. The other one has four events that I do, is 2 1/2 hours away, but I will be busy on that day. This comp has 8 events that I do, which is quite a bit. There are many comps that are 5 1/2-6 hours away but I don't think I'll ever travel that far for one. I also don't currently have a job, as I am not old enough for most jobs, but might find ways to make money, and I do have the money for it, since I will probably only have to pay half. I think I will bring it up again and ask if I can go on the condition that I pay partial, but I will respect if my parents don't want to take me anyway. Thanks y'all!

I'm basically placed in the same scenario now lol. Anyway, since it has all your favourite events, I think, go for it!
Alright, I'm definitely going to try to convince my parents! Also, since you've been practicing skewb alot lately, do you think I should try it and compete in it? I heard it's pretty easy to learn but idk how fast I'll be able to get.

Don't think, just go to the comp.

Happy competing!

You'll surely have a blast(I think) but for my morals, it would only be fair to your parents if you pay for all the expenses.
You need to decide if your pockets allow for this.
Can you see if other comps closer to you have all the events you do?
I for example, would need to drive 8 hours/4 1/2 by train which would be the way better option for the closest comp to me that did Sq1 since 2018.
If your parents also pay for more expensive Holiday presents, maybe it's the wise choice to wait until your allowance has grown back up a bit.

Thank you for your thorough response. I was planning to pay for most of the expenses at least. There are two comps closer to me, but one only has three events that I don't like as much, so I don't think it would be worth it. I was planning on going to the other one that has 5 events I do, three of which I really enjoy, but I will be busy that day. I will still have savings I won't cut into and I also don't get an allowance, but I have money to spend and might find ways to earn some. I also might have to sacrifice competing in OH in the morning so I won't have to pay for a hotel that extra night, but idk if I can check in late.
