Worn-off stickers

Hi, I'm new around here, having started speedcubing quite a while ago. I got my cube about 2 months ago and it's getting smoother and faster and all but my stickers are wearing off VERY fast. It's the kind where there's a plastic membrane overlaying a thin layer of paint on a sticker. At first, I thought it was okay, but the plastic membranes on top were starting to peel off, exposing the paint to be 'scratched off'.

Is this normal for a new unmodded cube or have I been cubing too much (because I practice a lot)? Right now I'm protecting the really worn-off stickers by replacing the peeled-off plastic with transparent sticky tape before the paint totally vanishes (making the cube entirely white). And I'm not planning to buy stickers online as I can't trust shopping via the Internet.

Anyone with the same problem?

When I buy Rubik's Cubes the stickers generally wear off after a week. So I'd say it's normal.

I'd recommend getting stickers from cubesmith.com (internet shopping :-P) I've ordered from him about 3 or 4 times via PayPal and I've had no problems.

If you really don't want to buy them online then you could find a local Sign Writer and ask them to get Oracle 620 Vinyl or something - with a sticky back and then cut them up into little squares (expensive).

This topic has almost been exhausted throughout the forum.

Try the search button :-P

Whoops, sorry! I tried the Search before starting the thread, but nothing relevant seemed to have turned up. Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough.

Thanks anyway.

yeah. it's pretty normal what's happening to you. the stickers of the cubes from the shop wear off very fast. i know your problem. so don't stop practicing because of the stickers ..:)

cubesmith.com are the best stickers. a set of stickers is 1.5$ i think...you will not spend more than 10$ on an order, so i think you can risk :). i don't like either internet shopping too much, but for small amounts i think it worths the risk.

if you really don't want e-shopping and are tired of answers like mine or timmc's...suggesting cubesmith, i suggest you another method. but it's not that graet as a new pair of stickers. and it is on your own risk.
you can rip all those plastics off, and replace them with some nail polish (transparent) let'em dry. it should work. if the colours are also worn off, you can paint the certain colour with a marker and then put the nail polish (lacquer)
