WitTwo smoothness trick?

I have two WitTwo V1's. I've lubed & played with different tensions. No pieces have popped internally, but it feels like a concrete mixer. Turns are very notchy. It locks quite a bit as well. Given the rave reviews I've seen for the WitTwo, I figure I'm doing something wrong...

I did lube the core. I also have the three locking pieces holding one corner in place on all 3 axes, as it should be.

I first thought it was flash, but I sanded the spots with flash to remove it & then polished the spots with 1500 grit sandpaper. I tend to spend an hour or so on a new puzzle removing flash & other mold artifacts. (30+ years of plastic model making have paid off!).

I have an answer: You bought a WitTwo. They've always been known for feeling like the way you describe.

Make sure you...
-Lube core
-Tension equally
-Break in
-Lube pieces (inc. contact on the corner shells)

This is generally my process.

Good to know. Thanks, and it's nice to know there's not anything wrong with my puzzle, and that feeling like it's full of gravel is normal.

Yeah it's normal. I hated my WitTwo at first but it gets much smoother with breaking in. I'm not exactly sure what creates the gravelly feel, but it could be the corner shells scraping across the inner pieces including the screw heads.
