Why do YOU cube?

I get jittery if I'm not doing something with my hands and cubing is good for that when I am not gaming.
When I am satisfied with the averages I am getting, I will know when they come but for now I am very, very thirsty for better times..

Mainly because it's so fun, and I'd really like to see myself get faster. I used to think I would be satisfied and probably stop when I started to get sub-12 averages. Then came sub-11, then sub-10... I don't think I'll ever stop, because I haven't even gotten sub-12 yet... Not even close :/

I like the community. I like the wow factor. I like the self-competition. I like the theory. I like the social part of it.

I like the whole world, and all its Speedsolvers,

Boom De Ah Dah!
Boom De Ah Dah!

Boom De Ah Dah!
Boom De Ah Dah!

You'll only get this if you watched the discovery channel's "the world is just awesome" commercial

It's fun, and a generally an inexpensive hobby if you only buy maybe 1 puzzle a month. In some cases you can make money, like winning a big competition or making puzzles. It's just generally coo'

I started cubing because of "The Pursuit of Happiness." Basically what I learned from the movie is, know how to solve the Rubik's cube, get a job because of it and in the end become a great success. And since the movie is based on a true story it must obviously work.

Also this is my first post, so hello everyone.

I started because i was on youtube and saw thrawst solve a cube then explain how he solved it. I was so jealous and wanted to learn incredibly bad. Now i'm just trying to beat him and Lance. It's also really interesting how people want to learn and how many people actually invest time into learning. (not many I know)

On another point, welcome Mr. RealDeal :) its good to have you with us. Quick question, where do you live that you're actually up this late? (I know it isn't THAT late, but still not many people are usually on now)

Thanks jokerman5656, and I live in Vegas which unfortunately does not have many cubers as far as I know.

My teacher is giving anyone in my class n extra points where n is defined by the amount of seconds whoever beats my teacher by on the Rubik's cube. She does it in about 3 minutes and I'm currently at high 40s. I'm about to get a test's worth of EC!

Edit: ^ That, and it's been really fun playing with an FII and watching my times drop each day (for now).

Cubing was getting kinda popular in my high school, and once I learned how to solve one, I got under a minute pretty quickly. Then I was the fastest at my high school pretty quick too. So it's one of the very very few things I'm good-ish at.

i cube because it is a nice hobby and i can killed a lot of time with this hobby!!!
i also have seen the movie "The Pursuit of Happiness.".

The thrill of being able to solve it really fast is my drive. (i'm working on sub-30, right now i'm at 45 avg)
