Why can't I get down to 15-16??

I have practiced with the metronome and have tried to go slow and look ahead during my solves. My averages have hit 17 but they can't seem to go any lower. What's wrong?

Hey dude, i have the exact same problem sometimes. i average 17-18, but i have gotten some good sub-17 averages, my pbs being a 15.13 Ao5 and a 12.22 single. The 2 things that i do sounds really stupid, but it actually helps if you don't already do it:
1. positive self-talk before each solve-you tell yourself that it's going to be a good solve or even your pb.
2. listen to music if you don't already. it can really be a confidence booster if you listen to fast music.

Just keep practicing. Breakdown your solves time-wise, and improve on your slowest parts.

You could try a few cubing exercises, and improve lookahead (Phillip Espinoza has a pretty good video on how to improve lookahead), and lastly just keep solving until your fingers hurt I guess.
