I got a white type D cube from cube4you and it's terrible.

I just wanted to ensure that the method to fix it is correct:

1) Solve the crappy cube 50-100 times... (this will be torture on my wrists)
2) Replace core with an old type A core
3) Use lock tite to prevent screws from getting use

Thanks

Same.
but i always love type Ds when i first play them.
After a few days, i would change because the feeling changes, unless you prefer that new feeling.

I have some old screws from my totally-superglued-together-type d, I managed to extricate the screws since they are so precious.
But now, im stuck with some useless screws which i don't know what do with it.. maybe if I get a new type D, i might replace the screws.

i really hate my white type D from cube4you -- it was terrible out of the box, i didn't know i had to buy an old type A core or realize it would take so much effort to make better.

and the thing was so haphazardly constructed... like it was put together by a monkey. the stickers were slapped on by someone wearing a blindfold, and were awful (this was expected), and it has like one big (old?) screw and 5 little (new) screws. and i have a lot of trouble adjusting the tension on the big screw. arghhh

yeah, mine didn't come with stickers. i got ripped off.

i just bought stickers from cube smith to replace them. cubesmith never lets me down.

Yes everyone says the stickers on the new Type Ds are horrible. They're dirty, out of place, and are really bad.

And yes, you do sometimes get different screws. Many people get that problem.

Sorry man, next time you buy a cube, make sure you thoroughly research about it before you buy it. I knew about these bad things about the new Type D about 2 months ago....

And another thing. Next time, unless you really need to, I wouldn't recommend buying from Cube4you. Their shipping to the US is outrageous, and his customer service is horrible. The guy didn't include two items in my order! And he's not responding to my emails and PMs!

yeah, so I ordered with a lot of other people so the cost was ok, but I agree that the shipping is prohibitively expensive if you order on your own. And I don't think I will ever buy from cube4you again.

where do you suggest I do my cube shopping?

It really depends on what puzzles you want. Cube4you has the most items, but it is not very reliable.

Some good shops are 9spuzzles and puzzleproz. There are other shops but those are one of the popular ones. If you want a specific item I might be able to find a shop that sells that item for cheap. For example huskyomega with Eastsheen cubes.

Yeah seriously, shipping from Cube4you in expensive. I live on the east coast of USA and my shipping was like $41. (Although my order was huge - $216 :D)

No, my new black type Ds came with amazing stickers. It just came with skinny (new) screws. I broke mine in, replaced the core with old type A core, and treated it with loctite threadlocker. It's amazing! But for the screw getting loose problem, for some screws the loctite isn't quite enough. What I did was take tiny bit of aluminum foil and cover the screw thread with it, put loctite over the foil, and then screw it into the core lightly. The cube is amazing now and doesn't get loose and stuff. If you get old type D screws, you won't have to deal with all this though, only for the new screws. :(

Oh, and I agree with Rubik's Cube Fan that you SHOULDN'T buy from C4Y. The dude messed up my order, doesn't respond to anything, and cost for EVERYTHING is just ridiculous. I'd recommend PuzzleProz for everything.
