Which 4x4 do you use and why?

Reason I'm asking is because I just received my first 4x4 yesterday (shen shou) and I tried to adjust the tensions on the outer part. It ended up popping into a million pieces and I think it took me close to an hour trying to put it back together.

Are all 4x4s like this? I want to lube the core with lubix but I'm afraid to go through this ordeal again.

Do you also adjust the main core screws when you tension this one? I'm really new to 4x4s and so I'm debating also buying a Maru & MF8 to compare.

Any tips on tensioning would be appreciated because I seem to be having a few lock ups but I think that's just because I tensioned it a bit tight for fear that it would pop.

I use a MF8+Dayan because it is smooth, fast and has a very good overall performance.

The 3 4x4s I prefer are:
1. MF8 + Dayan
2. X-Cube
3. Sengshou

I use a ShengShou, becuase I wanted a better one than an Eastsheen, and it was cheap.

For the ShengShou, tighten it and also do the sanding mod, its on youtube, to reduce the explosive pops, thats what I've done to mine and its now good.

I use X-cube. It can pop, so you have to be careful.

i use shengshou but i tight it up aswell and did the mod so it pops like 1 at 50 so that pretty good. Lubix is amazing for it.. Although i dont like the stickers they are peeling and they are dark. Im going to buy a bright set but that is just preference

The DaYan + MF8 is chill when you get everything right mechanically(which is easy btw.). The X-Cube not so, it kinda begs for a thorough beating, but then just flies~.

I use Dayan but I have to turn real slow during 3x3 phase coz it pops with one of the center pieces coming out and 7-8 other pieces,I average 30 seconds on 3x3 phase without pairties and 40 seconds with double pairty.

If there were no pops,I would be faster on 3x3 phase and my overall time on 4x4 would be way better,though it never pops during centers and edges

I have both a XCube and a Dayan+MF8. I've used much more my XCube since I just like it better. My DaYan isn't very good, it pops like crazy, even if it's quite tight. Overall I like it, but need to find the sweet spot or something like that.

My Dayan+mf8 does not pop much, I have an edge piece that pops out maybe once every 30-40 solves.

It turns very well, cuts loads and the pops are no big issue if they occur.

Lucky you! We have the same 4x4 but yours doesn't pop much,maybe you have set the core tensions perfectly unlike me.
What are your 3x3 phase times?

QJ until the core broke yesterday. Now all I have is Rubik I will swap t missing Qj pieces
