Yeah, that's a valid point as well. In addition, not all speedcubers are really going for WR.

True. I realize that I'll (most likely) never break any world record or even Continental record. I knew that when I started, and I don't really care.

The records will be being set by cubers in the moon colonies where low gravity and atmospheric conditions help. The best cubes will be carbon fibre stickerless self-scramblers, but they'll be expensive and only the Olympic-class cubers with major sponsorship deals will be able to afford them.

Well, for all I can say. More people will take up Speedcubing. Moyu will lose its popularity and some other company takes over. 3x3 WR would be Sub 4. To be on top 100 solvers for 3x3, you would need to be sub 8/sub7. I probably will average 8 seconds
