what's wrong with my type A?

I got a white type A and a green type D from cubes4you.com. before that i'd only ever used a store bought, so my standards were pretty low. I applied grease spray and set tension on both. The type D spins really easily even with the tension set really tight. Right now if I turn U 1/3 turn and try to turn R, I can't even get the cubits to pop out 50%. It's really tight and turns really easily. The type A on the other hand has the tension set really loose, if I turn U 1/3 turn and try to turn R, the cubits are super-close to popping. But the faces all turn really choppily, and require a lot of force. It feels a lot "heavier" and after 3 solves or so, my hands are physically exhausted! Not to mention I just can't do anything very fast or accurately with it. I've set the tension at a variety of levels, if I set it any looser I pop 20% of the time and it still doesn't turn any better.

Is there something I'm doing wrong with my type A - do i need to use different lube or different tension setting rituals? Is type D just better? Or does Type A take longer to break in than normal cubes?

Well, some cubes take longer to break in with lube than others, just play with it a little longer. If it's still choppy, check the stuff in the grease spray. Is it just pure grease?Cause silicone works much better. To get a good tension, put it the tightest possible, then loosen it till it pops. Then tighten it just a tad so it doesn't pop, and do that on all six sides. I have a type A and it runs great with that strategy and a little bit of silicone.

Yeah, it's silicone spray. I used the strategy you described on my type A, it's as loose as I can get it without popping.
