ok so if i buy a rubik's cube from a store, will it tell me what type of cube it is? i personally want either type A or type D. other details, have you ever seen a white cube in a store?

EDIT: k i got that answered and now i know im not buying one in a store, does anyone know where i can buy a white DIY kit of type A or D that will ship to my house from USA because otherwise i have to pay 16 dollars for shipping and if i pay 8 it takes 2-4 weeks.

They don't sell any DIY's in stores (for example, type a, b, c,).

EDIT: When people refer to store-bought cubes, they mean rubiks brand cubes.

Ohh! so type cubes are DIY cubes only, i get it now. so DIY kits arent any brand then they are just referred to as the store you bought it from im assuming.

If you're a beginner / intermediate cuber you should probably get used to a Storebought rubik's...

Right now (look at my sig for averages and PBs) I use a lubricated storebought hybrid (of two storeboughts, LOL!) that I can get about 5 TPS on if I'm doing the right movement.

Yes, it pops alot, but reminds me of my friends D cube, which I LOVE (so I ordered YUGA, DS's and some As because As > Ds apparently), but I figure if I'm going to be good, I might as well start at the bottom...

You can't "automatically" start at As -- if you were to randomly try and solve someone's cube (likely a storebought) you wouldn't even be able to hit HALF your normal time...

I know this for a fact because an old friend of mine gave me his cube to solve (non lubed BRAND NEW STOREBOUGHT -- about 3 months old, never solved??), and it took me literally 45 seconds ( I average that with my LUBED ONE) -- and this was hard as heck to turn!!!

So if you want a starter cube, might as well get some CRC/Jig-a-loo and a storebought, and screw around with that for a while before getting into advanced cube types.

Ya, I would say buy a storebought. It is not worth it to get a DIY before you learn how to solve it. Start at the bottom and once you get some decent times get a DIY. I still suck (look at my averages) and I use a plain worked in storebought.

The cube doesnt make you good, you make the cube good.

You actually CAN find a type E DIY in some Walmart stores. It is sold as a white sudoku cube with crappy colorful stickers.
