What is your biggest cubing competition failure?

4x4 at my latest comp by date (dutch autumn 2023)

So the cutoff was 1:30 which was pretty good for me, but probably like an day before they changed it to 1:15 which i didnt notice, so in the waiting area i was chatting with someone and i said that the cutoff was 1:30 and they said it was 1:15, so I checked really quick, and turns out it was 1:15 and i knew i was doomed, then on the first solve i got a pr, but the second solve was a huge lockup with the centers. so i spent 15 seconds fixing it on a weird way and then i got a 1:40 i think. That was a pretty bad start for my comp..

DNF'ed a 3bld mean (on my very first 3bld round ever) because I thought the 3rd scramble was a duplicate and stopped the timer at 8 seconds.

It wasn't a duplicate 💀
I don't have a blind mean
At my comp in Poland a while ago, the 3rd solve in the mean was a duplicate, but the scramble was what it was supposed to be, so they gave me the 2nd scramble for the 3rd attempt, because the 2nd attempt apparently had the scramble for the 3rd. I still DNFed all 3 attempts, but it made me think, what if someone just claims their 3rd scramble is a duplicate, even though it isn't really, just to get the 2nd scramble again. Nobody would know unless it's filmed, and they would have an easy good time.

Other funny thing with duplicate scrambles, at my first comp I got 4BLD NR on the 2nd attempt, and on the 3rd attempt I got the same scramble. I stopped the attempt and told the judge it was the same, and he said 'yeah, that's true', as if he knew beforehand. I'm pretty sure he was also the one who scrambled it, so idk if he was just trying to let me get an easy NR again or something but it was weird.

i was at comp in 3x3, and i was on track to get a 14.very low 3x3 avg, which would be PB. at my last solve, my GAN 12 MAGLEV UV popped out two pieces during OLL, and i put them back in only to get a corner twist, and when i was aT PLL, i got PLL parity so i had to take them out again. the result was a 33 or 35 i can't remember. very sad THIS IS WHY I SHOULD HAVE USED THE GAN 11!!!!

I MISSED 3X3 ROUND 2 ONCE IN 3X3 BY.................... 0.01

At CubingUSA Western Champs this year, I wanted to make it to 3x3 finals. I knew it would be hard (the western region is probably the fastest region in the US), and I would probably need a low 8 to sub 8 average to make it (it was top 16). I had gotten PR averages in the first two rounds, and I had gotten 16'th place in R2, but in the semi-final, I got too nervous and got a terrible 10 average. Hopefully I can do better at Westerns next year (or maybe NAC finals???)
