I don't think any of you guys know what Hunch is, so I'll tell you. It's sort of like a personal desision-maker online, like a big online quiz-type-thing. They say that it "help you make decisions and gets smarter the more you use it." Here's an example that helps you figure out which movie you should watch: http://www.hunch.com/which-movie/
But I'm not trying to advertise their site. My intention in this thread is to make a helpful online quiz to help people, n00bs or otherwise, figure out which cube they should buy.
The deal is they answer a whole bunch of questions about what they're looking for in a cube, and it gives them their suggestion. I think this will save a lot of explaining to people new on the forums that there isn't a one "best cube". We will just link them to the hunch and it will tell them what cube they should buy. Noobs will like that a lot, I think, because they often like being told what to do.
It asks you several questions. Here are some that are already up:
What color do you want your cube?
Black
White
Other
Do you want to be able to adjust the tension?
Yes
No
What?
Which color scheme do you want?
Japanese color scheme
World color scheme
Do you mind if it is imported from a far away country with expensive shipping?
Yes
No
What are you looking for in a cube?
Speed, that's all I want
Smooth turning
No lock-ups
Not sure
The only cubes I've added as results, however, are the storebought, Edison, and C4Y.
The actual questionnaire is here: http://www.hunch.com/cubes I don't think that people who aren't signed up can view it yet, however. Once it gets a decent amount of content it will be available for the public to take.
Members are allowed to edit the hunches, and change/add/delete results or questions. And this is where (I hope) you guys will come in, because I simply do not have enough time to add all the different types of cubes/add better questions to the hunch. Thanks.

EDIT: I received an email from the magical Hunch people:
"Subject: Topic promoted from workshop
Congratulations! Your topic "What type of 3x3x3 Rubik's cube should I buy?" was moved out of the workshop and into the general Hunch corpus.
Thanks for contributing to Hunch.
