What average is good for new cubers?

Hey guys, what average is good for newbies like me? I got an average of sub 56. Is that good?
sub 56 seems great for a new cuber. If you really want to get faster, I would suggest learning CFOP (assuming you use beginner's method). There are other good methods out there as well like Roux, Petrus, and ZZ, that are worth exploring. However, I would recommend starting with CFOP as it's an easy transition from beginner's method.

Yeah that's pretty good. I've been cubing for about 3 months, what about you? Also I would recommend starting with 4LLL and intuitive F2L first because it's a bridge to the daunting algorithms of CFOP, times won't be super different and 4LLL algs are a subset of CFOP so the transition will be easy.

Forget about look ahead until you average about 20s or even less, it's only good once your solutions are efficient
Working this early on look ahead can be damaging, you will develop bad habits that'll be hard to change

Yeah the question “is ___ average good for ___ time cubing” is probably the most asked cubing question, and there isn’t really a good answer, people naturally improve at different rates and some put more practice into it than others. It’s also easier to improve now because of better tutorials, better hardware etc... than it was to improve like 10 years ago.

Also, people lie CONSTANTLY about how fast they improved.

I would recommend learning intuitive F2L, and 4LLL because they're easy to learn, don't have many algs, and they can make you quite fast. Just ask @ProStar
Edit: He's sub 20 with 4LLL

If you've decided on CFOP then yeah start with 4lll and intuitive F2L, anyone can tell you that. But before you switch look into other methods and decide what you like best, then do whatever the beginner's steps for those are
