If it is he deserves a medal of honor. I didn't think it was very efficient to do on a 4x4, let alone on the 5x5 without your head exploding.

Uh, there are several of people who have done 5x5x5 BLD visual. I'm definitely NOT one of them, but there are several who have. Most of them are faster than me. It's a very fast way to do it; unfortunately, it tends to not be very accurate, based on competition results. I don't know of any of those visual 5x5x5 BLD people who have actually gotten one successfully in competition. That's why the world record is so slow.

Edit: Oh wait, Rafal used visual (at one point, at least), and he has a successful solve. But it was a very slow, careful solve, which is why he didn't get the world record. His typical solves at home at the time were more like 10 minutes.
