What are some alternate colour schemes/patterns?

I currently have a stickerless cube (not coloured stickerless, completely black with stickers pealed off) and I'm planning on buying some nice stickers, maybe tiles, to put on it. However, I have many standard 3x3s already, and I certainly wouldn't use this cube as a speedcube (original rubik's brand, my first ever cube, it isn't bad but it's nothing on any of my Dayans) so I decided to do an alternate colour scheme, or maybe something different altogether on it. Other than three different colours with opposite sides the same my idea-bank was dry, so I decided I'd come here and ask you wonderful, creative folk for some. Of course I could make some custom picture ones, or something different like a sudoku cube or snake cube, so as well as colour schemes feel free to suggest things like that too.

Try making blue, white and green side white and the other 3 black!
Then solve it to checker or back to all black and white sides

Or get/make some super cube stickers!

Since it's your first cube, I'd make it nicer than do some weird thing with it or random different colour scheme. I might buy some nice shiny stickers like mosaic set from cubesmith. (Except I'm not sure you can tell all the colours apart... some of them look similar.) But of the ideas so far, I probably like the custom picture idea the best. I've also seen/heard of calendar cube. I think the one I saw a picture of had the month, day, and day of the week. Of course, you'd have to solve it each day if you want to use it, say on your desk or something. I don't know how old you are or what you do, but if you work in an office setting, it would be a nice conversation starter. People would be asking, "Do you actually solve that to the new date everyday??"

Why don't you get Braille tiles and turn it into a blind solving cube

Six bottles of fingernail paint will cost about $6. Use the sparkly colors. And to get the edges neat, use Scotch Magic Transparent tape, cut into strips.

Ruben King stickers make for an interesting puzzle, even on a 3x3. I have a Rubik's brand where I cut a set of tiles in half diagonally and applied them in the Ruben King style. Awesome puzzle now.
