Weighted cubes

Has anyone played with weighting their cubes? It seems to me that if you get a nice speed cube and weight the corners equally, you'd get a more even and balanced spin.

Am I just taking this too far?

Increasing the moment of rotational inertia would make the face require more force to start turning and more force to stop turning. In my mind it's questionable.
