So, most people disagree with the WCA's upcoming removal of clock, and they've received an immense amount of backlash.
The thing is, backlash can only do so much, and it's likely that they simply ignore the backlash and proceed with the removal.
What the WCA can't ignore is a boycott; if people stop organizing and going to competitions, the competitor numbers will start to show, leading to a higher chance of them giving in. I know this might not be an easy choice, as competitions are fun, but I personally believe that it's worth the short term sacrifice if it increases the chances of the clock solving community getting to keep their event.

Edit, 08/21/2026:The WCA is not stopping at clock, your favorite event may not be safe. BigBLD, FMC, and possibly 7x7 are on the chopping block. We need to boycott WCA competitions until we get actual change.
This will not be over after July 18th, 2027. #DUCKTHEWCA

Good thought, but the WCA has responded. Did you see that? https://forum.worldcubeassociation....s-list-of-official-events-june-2026/67124/369

I don't entirely agree with this. First off, boycotting competitions without clock might make more sense. But more importantly, boycotting competitions would hurt your local cubing community which probably agrees with you on clock, including delegates and organizers. I'm going to be asking my delegates to vote out the board at the earliest opportunity, as well as asking about possibilities for non-WCA competitions. Russia and China have been holding non-WCA competitions for several years now, and there's also cubingcontests.com, though they say, "Please note that an unofficial competition can only be hosted on Cubing Contests if it's infeasible for it to be held as an official WCA competition."
