Hey Guys! ...I just got a new V-Cube 6x6x6, and I'm curious if anyone has any techniques for breaking it in, and/or tuning it up.

Currently, out of the box, the cube feels like it has been somewhat lubed. That is, there appears to be a thin layer of lube from the factory. That being said: Currently it likes to lock up, and, not like a 3x3x3 lock up where it just interrupts your flow of an alg -- this cube is like, LOCKED. At least one outer-most layer will just be entirely stuck. I'll try to align the rest of the layers, turn a couple other other layers and see if the stuck layer will dislodge and eventually, it will.

I have a feeling that this cube will need a serious break-in period? Am I correct in assuming so? Does anyone have any recommendations on how to break it in?

Also, does anyone have any suggested modifications to make to it? Should I disassemble and re-lube? Or is there a tensioning mechanism that is too tight? If anyone has a link to a disassembling of a V-Cube 6, that'd rock too.

Thanks for the input guys, rock out :tu

The mod is definitely worth it. Yup it looks very involved but armed with a dremmel, some super glue and pins you'll soon be there. It ended up being far easier than I anticipated

You dont even need the pins, just know where the center is that has the two "Edges" glued to the core.

Does that keep the core in alignment for all wide moves? Say you have the v-cube logo at the glued centre and that is on the U, I can see how it would stop a misalignment of 3R/3L and 3F/3B. But there would be nothing to stop 3U/3D moves misaligning?
