Use algorithms for F2L or not?

I don't get it. I'm learning algorithms for F2L.. What you guys are saying is that someone who learned intuitive F2L will be better at looking ahead than someone who uses algorithms?

I mean, it can't be impossible to achieve good times using memorized algorithms..
Do you want to learn 41 F2L algorithms?
Or do you want to learn something that you can fully understand in an hour?

You choose:D

The F2L algorithms are for specific cases. Well in Fridrich F2L, most of the time, those cases don't come up.

Intuitive F2L requires you to use your brain a lot more in the solve. You will understand how things work, and you will do the "F2L algorithms" without even knowing it. No algorithms needed to memorized, because they are completely unnecessary.

In Fridrich F2L, you have to understand how the pieces move and where they go and how this and that works. Memorizing 41 algorithms will not teach you that (unless you look into the algorithms which is still not as good as intuitive F2L)
Well yes, I do want to learn 41 algorithms (It's more like 35ish 'cause some of them are supereasy, but anyway) 'cause I told myself to stop using LBL and start using Fridrich, and I thought "All I need to do is learn the algorithms" so that's exactly what I'm doing

Besides, when I learn a new algorithm, I look deeply into it to see what's going on and why every move is made.. (I thought everyone does this? )

You don't need to learn F2L algs to start doing Fridrich.

I'm with you guys on the "My F2L is intuitive" bandwagon. I don't know a single alg for F2L, it's all intuitive, and i believe it's far better this way. When i left LBL i went straight to intuitive F2L and it's been awesome :D

That's not what I'm saying. I thought to myself all I need to do to get better is learn some algorithms, so that's why I'm not doing intuitive F2L.. It's not THAT many algorithms anyway..

im using full intuitive and can sub 20 with it on good occasions when i do not need to look ard for 3 secs finding the CE piece cause im bad at spotting them.

sub 33 avg here btw

Okay how long will it take for you to memorize 35 algorithms? I would say at least a week.

How long would it take for you to understand and be able to immediately use intuitive F2L in your solves? I would say an hour.

Algorithms is not the only way to speed you up. When you get very fast you will find that out. If you want to learn algorithms, I would do that for the last layer. Fridrich F2L is meant for you to be free and do lots of moves. Algorithms don't do that.

Besides, the algorithm cases usually does not come out in solves. For intuitive F2L, that doesn't matter.

But this is your choice. I'm just saying it's much easier to learn and use intuitive F2L.

yes you're right, it is my choice. It took me about a week like you said to learn all F2L algorithms, and honestly I'm really happy with my choice. I just avg out of 12'd a little worse than before I learned F2L.. :)
