Hey guys,
I came about this thinking quite a while ago but then stoped it, don't remember why....
But now the point, what are the advantages of those "techniques"? I've seen a lot u in solution of others, for adjustments and "setups"...
which do you use?

I use D for all adjustments till now, I started like that and continued with it.
Now I will maybe try u moves, but I don't know if it will be so much better, I want to learn some helpfull/better stuff, that reduce cube rotations and make it easier to look ahead for the f2l, because I want to close the gap between cross and first pair, which annoys me the most. I only know a few about it, like R u' R u for a flipped piece.

I want to average sub-2, now I got
Cubes Solved: 24
Number of Pops: 0
Average: 2,27
Standard Deviation: 0,54
Best Time: 1,21
Worst Time: 3,36
one from before:
5. (3,64) F L D2 F D' U' B' F L2 B2 F' L' D' R2 D2 U R D' F2 U2 L' R' F' U F
my solution:
y' R F D' F2 y U2 R' F2 D

my use of D/u in cross depends on last layer. If I see some F2L pairs, and I want to keep the view, I will adjust cross with D, but if i dont see anything, I will do a u to adjust the cross, and then hopefully I see more so that I can get started on F2L right away. I somehow prefer D's for some reason, but i think thats only because I've used them more and I'm more comfortable with them.

I agree with badmephisto. Using u turns to adjust the cross gives you time to scan for your first pair as an extra side or two flies by you. Its not much time but sometimes it can show you your first pair and reduce delays, however if you already see the first pair while making the cross then use either D or u whichever puts the slots in the right place for the insertion.
