I tried to trim my springs a little bit becuase I find my cube too slow... but when I tried cutting it with sisscors, It wouldn't even scratch it. I even went as far as pulling out the tool box and no tool could do more than bend it... making it useless. Is there a good way to trim it? Please help because one of my sides doesn't have a spring now... Thanks!

yup It scratched it slightly and bent it but that's all it did...

Currently my main cube is a PUZL speedcube. Its not bad, but I could never seem to get the tension right. The basic problem is you want to achieve two things:
  1. Reduce the stiffness
  2. Prevent popping
With some cubes (like mine) these two goals are mutually exclusive. Loosen the screws and you get a looser cube, but the cube becomes more prone to popping. Tighten them and the cube stops popping but is too stiff. Lube can sometimes be enough to help, but unfortunately the soft plastic on my cube doesn't respond well to it.

The solution: Trim the springs.

A standard set of wire cutters much like these will suffice. Be careful not to trim too much. My springs only needed to be trimmed by 1 coil. Trim too much and you'll need to find yourself some new springs

I'd recommend putting the spring in a vice and using some pliers or wire cutters to trim it down. Always cut with the part that isn't in the vice facing away from your eyes or someone else. You'll end up shooting the little bit of metal at something when cutting.

normal wire cutters will do it, but id use trial and error and trim a little off at a time as not to over cut the springs

I've tried pliers and wire cutters... but the spring won't hold still. It slips off of it very easily because it's flexible and springy.

ok it's fixed... the only problem was that I wasn't holding hte spring steady enough Thanks! Now it turns just as well as the others and cuts cornesrs great still.
