Triggermaster notation

Ras, similar systems have come up before, and they always miss the point - you shouldn't be memorizing the moves themselves, but instead you should understand how the alg moves blocks of pieces around and why it works. It might be useful for memorizing random moves such as scrambles (if you need to, for some weird reason) but for speedsolving algs you should definitely not be memorizing move by move, just like how you shouldn't be executing move by move.

It's probably been done better than I've come up with but for me I have an easier time memorizing number sequences so I came up with an equivalency table:

1 u
2 u2
3 u'
4 r
5 r2
6 r'
7 l
8 l2
9 l'
0 d

This way I've turned most algs into numbers then break them up so that they look like phone numbers sprinkled with a few letters here and there where there are back moves or rotations.... just find it easier to memorize for me is all. In this way the cross OLL, for example,

R U R' U R U' R' U R U2 R'
becomes like a social security number 416-14-3614 +26 or a phone number (416) 143-6142 +6. In this case 416 happens to be the area code for Toronto, 143 is old-school text for "I love you", 614 is the area code for Ohio and 26, well I can just keep 26 in mind. So for memorizing this when I come across this OLL I just say in my head "Toronto I love you Ohio twenty-six" and I got it!

Hey, just saying it works for me :-)

That's weird. You should use the Major System.
