Hi, I'm Nathan Walsh.

I started Cubing about a month ago when I saw numberphile's videos on rubik's cubes and there was that cube sitting on my desk for about a year or two and I suddenly wanted to be able to solve it. Then I saw videos of speedcubing and saw these people who could solve in less than 20 seconds and that inspired me to learn even more. I managed to get a 45 second slove unlucky and an average of about 59 seconds in that time with CFOP 4lll. I'm starting to learn ZZ method since it fits me better and I get a 1m20 average with it.

Outside of cubing, I'm a Guitarist/bassist. I play guitar for entertainement and bass in a orchest band called "Harmonie élite des Navigateurs" wherein we have the best musicians of the school board. Last year, we won a perfect score at "MusiqueFest de Montréal" and a gold medal at Chicago's "Rythm Festival" and this year we will go to Virginia Beach's "Rythm Festival".

My goal is a sub 30 average in 2014.

Good luck starting ZZ at your speed! I'm surprised you aren't finding it that hard (or at least, haven't said anything about it :p). If you can do ZZ, you may want to learn to be y-axis neutral i.e. being able to start with one of two colours on the front (e.g. blue and red) depending on whichever has fewer misoriented edges. It's very useful and isn't that difficult to learn. Even if you don't do that, you'll still almost certainly get to sub-30 in 2014. Maybe even sub-20 depending on how much you practise. I started a year and a week ago, and I now average sub-17 with CFOP and sub-19 with ZZ.
Welcome!

Welcome!

It's a bit hard for now but knowing myself, I will get it really fast. I chose ZZ because I know that I could get faster with it than CFOP.
