Imagine you are designing a cube cover (ie. for use in a competition). What features does it have that make it the best cube cover ever?

For one thing, a latching mechanism that holds a clock in proper configuration, guaranteeing the pins don't get hit. It would need to be such that you can grip it from the top to undo the latch such that the clock stays put standing on edge as you remove the cover.

I've thought about this before. It seems like it wouldn't necessarily be that hard to do.
