Final solve: D' R D R D2 D' R D' R D R' D L D' R D R, so D' R D R D R D' R D R' D L D' R D R (16 HTM almost 2gen)

2nd attemp:

F2 R U R' U2 R U R' U' F U /EG1

Final solve: D R' D R2 F D F' D2 F D F' D' R D (14 HTM)

3rd attemp:

Final solve: U R' F2 U2 R2 F R' F U' F U F2 R2 (13 HTM)

How do you fingertrick this...? I don't know a good alg for this case with the bar on D.

F' with left index, kinda like Chris does here

x' // Inspection
U' R2 U R' U R2 // Diagface

U' R2 U R' U F2 R2 for layer, I've only recently learnt this trick and it removes the thinking aspect of the anti-CLL stage, helps a bunch :)

Next: U R' F' U R2 U' F' U2 F' U'

x R' U' R U' R' U R U' R' U' F R U' R' // boom?
U2 // I don't know EG AUFs yet :(

L' /1 move face
U' /Adjust
L F' L2 U L U' F' U' F U2 /EG

Final solve: L' U' L F' L2 U L U' F' U' F U2 (12 HTM)

L2 y L U' L' U2 L' D L U

Final solve: L D L2 D2 L D2 R2 F D' F' D2 F' U F D (15 HTM)

Optimal is U F U2 F U R2 U' F R U' (10 HTM)

Next is: F R F R' U' R U2 R F U' R2 F

I hate regrips, but I guess it's better than rotating :p Thanks!

but pausing to think is fun :( tbh I really should look for tricks like this, and seeing cancellations during inspection too... I really don't use inspection in 2x2. Maybe that's why I've got so much slower: I used to, and I was averaging ~4 about a year ago. That was with keyboard though, but I can't see that adding on a whole second.

... is it just me or does that do the exact same thing as my scramble in my post two above yours?

+2 sec penalty (F2). Premove because of mis-scramble? I think you did R' F' U' F' U2 R2 F U' R' U.

Anyway:

Oops, I did check... but first, I did the missscramble that my solution solves, then I did the scramble correctly, then I did the misscramble again... so I thought I'd scrambled correctly the first time, and the second scramble was a misscramble :fp

Your solution doesn't work.

R D U L' R2 B F D F' D2 B R' D' L2 F'
x' y' // Inspection
U F U' R' // Layer
R B' R' B R' U' R // OLL avoiding bad PLL

y' // inspection
U R2 U' R2 U' R2 // layer
R U2 R' U' y' R2 U' R' U R2 U // CLL + AUF

does this count as magic?

edit: actually, it's one-lookable with a cool 6-move anti-CLl
