The 2x2x2 "Example Solve" Game!

Scramble: L2 U R' F' L F U R2 F' L2 U' (where are y'all getting the L moves from help 😭)

ask @Lucas Garron . hes the one who made twizzle(I think)

cubing.js, Twizzle, and scramble.cubing.net all use the same scrambles, which use L moves for 2×2×2.

There's no over-arching reason to stick to <U, F, R>. The WCA Regulations don't require it, and it's just a convention used by some scramblers. It's a bit faster to generate scrambles and perhaps a bit more ergonomic.

After two decades of speedsolving, 2×2×2 now is heavily dependent on scramble analysis during inspection and thus full randomization is more important for fair scrambles. (Especially if you're scrambling for yourself at home. Knowing that DBL is solved is non-trivial information.)

Using L moves in scrambles doesn't make it harder to understand scrambles, so we use them to randomize DBL fully with the other pieces.
(We also make sure to avoid adjacent L and R moves.)

P.S. If you ever want a 2×2×2 scramble quickly, you can visit https://scramble.cubing.net/?event=222 and then press Ctrl-C (or ⌘C) to copy it. 😄

i use ortega so my solution is going to be long

y' // inspection
U R U R2' // first side
U2 F R U R' U' F' // OLL
U R2 U' B2 U2 R2 U' R2

19 HTM, average for me/

Next: U F2 R' F' R' F R' F2 U'

scramble U F2 R' F' R' F R' F2 U'
not a very good scramble, but it'll work ig
z2 // inspection
U L' U' L U2' R' U R U' L U L' // layer (oll skip) no I do not use ortega sorry
U2 R U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R' U2
this is very TPS worthy (my TPS is actually insane most of the time for me)
U2 F' L U' R2 F L' U2 // scramble
so, unlike Ortega, we are going to do a completely solved layer, no pieces shuffled around. to do that we will see the orange white blue piece is 1 move away from being solved, but instead, we can just cancel into solving the layer with U2. move. then, we will solve oll then pll (this could be skipped sometimes)
anyway here is the recon
x' y// inspection
U2' L U L' U' L // layer
U2' F' R U R' U' R' F (R2 to cancel into j perm) U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R' U2
