Hi

I'm interested in getting the swiftblock, as it's very cheap, and apparently made by GAN. Has anyone here got it, and if so, what are your thoughts on it? Is it worth the buy?

It’s okay-ish. I’d just get an RS3M 2020 for the price though. It will be better.
The swiftblock doesn’t have particularly good corner cutting so if your turning is not accurate you will not have a good time.

If you are interested in getting a GAN cube, I would recommend the GAN 11 M Duo or GAN 12 M Leap. They're basically the more affordable options for GAN's two best cubes. The Duo lacks adjustment of the corner stalk magnets, and the Leap has springs instead of maglev in the core, but they practically have the same performance as the full-feature cubes.

The Duo and the Leap are still kind of expensive, but IMO they are the cheapest ones worth buying. You won't get that premium GAN feeling from budget GAN or Swift Block cubes, you'll just be overpaying for middle-of-the-road cubes, and I think you'll be disappointed.

What cubes do you currently own? I think the X-Man Tornado V3, Dayan Guhong Pro M, and Moyu Weilong WR M 2021 are more reasonably priced flagship cubes if you want to try something new.

Ok, thanks. Yeah, I was considering buying the GAN 12 M Leap sometime in the next few months, as I've heard it's the best one for it's price.

I currently own the GAN 356 M, the cheapest (I believe) GAN 3x3 with magnets. It's very good for it's price, but I think when you're speedsolving you really need a cube that is as good as you can possibly get for your budget, so that you're not held back at all. The reason I was considering the Swiftblock was just as a back up main, for using if I'm doing anything where I wouldn't want to risk ruining my main. (Car journeys, cubing outdoors etc)

Ok, I'll definitely look into the cubes you mentioned. Thanks

Yes, the Swiftblock is a durable cube so you should definitely use it as a backup. But it's not good enough to be your main

I have it, its pretty good. To improve corner cutting you'll need to loosen it a bit. I set it up with a bit of SCS martian, makes it kinda fast, with the satisfying crunchy feel. Corner cutting (with looser tensions) is easy but kinda gradual (not snappy). I think moyu has better budget cubes though. Maybe something like the rs3m v5 or even the guhong pro would be better for a budget cube. Hope this helps!
