today at the gym i was wearing a rubik's cube t-shirt

there was this older guy who i hadn't met before, and he asked me about the shirt. he said he was curious because his kid was into cubing

i mentioned that i do it as a hobby and there are also competitions. he was pretty interested so i said he could look up the world cube association, and maybe his kid could try out a competition

converting the world 1 at a time 🤠

Once I was solving a fisher cube at school, and my English teacher walked past. His eyes looked like they were about to pop out of his eye sockets.
🚶‍♂️ insert fisher cube here 👀

One time when I had brought a cube to lunch everyone sitting at the table took turns scrambling it, and they had the idea for all of them to scramble it and they were amazed that I could still solve it (I also had brought a 4x4 one time but that was near the end of the school year and nobody except 3 people knew)

when i taught my mom to solve, her coworkers saw her solving one day, and now one of them has bought a gan, and another has bought two rs3m 2020's lol.

There is a local restaurant downtown with ½-pound beefburger and hand-cut french fries for $7 USD
So I like that place 🤠 but I consider that meal a treat...
Therefore I would let myself go get my treat if I earned it by walking 3+ miles to get it ✅
I wound up chatting with 3 of the waitresses pretty regular over the course of some months' time
And I gave each of them a decent speedcube (<$12))
. . .
Last I heard, one of them had kearned to do some patterns
and... AND
. . . . .
One of them went to the URL I gave her and watched Kian Mansour's YT tutorial
and she was learning ROUX!... !!!!!!!

Today a guy on the train just asked, which I am doing nothing on the cube and just turning it fast.

Turns out his comprehension was so weak he was not processing that I did an average of 100 in half an hour on the train and solved the cube a 100 times. It must be because I do not rest and hold the cube still after it is solved. also the solve times are fast ~9 seconds. Maybe he would appreciate a 1 min 3x3 solve more. Also, he said why I am interacting with the phone. I said to start and stop the timer. He also thought I was undoing moves, or practising a subset because I was scrambling the cube myself ( even though I used plustimer scrambles, the comprehension of the stranger is not that much to understand computer generated scrambles and why following them is essential compared to just hand-scrambling and getting the same patterns again)

anyway, I should not care, but this is how many strangers perceive fast solvers.

I had an experience with someone on the train when my friend and I were coming back from school trip. We decided to race each other doing a mini Guilford, so had large numbers of cubes out. It was a crowded train and so a random guy came and sat opposite us and was like "aren't you going to solve any of them?" because we were still scrambling (which took us a fair amount of time because we were doing the same scrambles). Anyway, we explained to him what we were doing and he took photos of the cubes to send to his girlfriend, basically saying "look what the kids that I'm sat with on the train can do." Anyway, after we were done, he tried to give us life advice, which basically is amounted to "what you can do is awesome but stop being such nerds." Suffice to say, I didn't follow his advice.

I was at a bus station in Sarajevo a couple years ago, and I happened to see someone with a 3x3. In this scenario, I was sort of the stranger approachinf a cuber lol. I asked him about it and showed my backpack full of cubes. He was from Denmark and happened to enjoy cubing, so just a random coincidence to run into another traveler who also cubed.

Would a friend be known as a stranger?
One day, I brought two cubes to school, my WeiPo and my RS3M V5 BC
Moving on, in math class, my friend took the cube from me, and tried twisting the corner, and of course it was the anchor one, and he broke it all right, and I couldn’t use it at my next comp (Feb 2024)
