I just got a new DIY cube from cube4you and put the orange stickers where the red are supposed to go. DOes this make a difference? I mean theres no particular way your stickiers need to go for competition is there?

Well, I prefer red to be on the opposite side of orange because I'm used to it that way =)

Well what I meant was read was always on the oppostite of orange for me but now they are switched. FOr example now if I have white on the top and blue facing me red is on the right and orange on the left instead of the other way around.

If you put it wrong, you probably have not memorized the color scheme yet(which you're supposed to), so it doesn't matter at the moment. Once you start learning Blindfold make sure you put all the stickers the same, either the company way, or this way, or any other way, just make sure you cubes are consistently one color scheme.

Well I don'tknow if it's not knowing the color scheme so much as not having ever put stickers on a cub ebefore. Also I lost my other cube and had to wait for the DIY to come from China.

You can have any kind of color scheme for competition (as long as they are distinct colours). Some people have purple / black stickers... so no, I would not say it is bad.
I am a complete beginner at blindfold cube so I suppose hdskull is right but I really don't see why orange/red switch would affect my solution either (I just take the cube in a certain way and remember where the cubies have to go...).

well, I memorised my color scheme, I do bld and...

I put red in the wrong place yesterday, when stickering my cube :D

I put white, blue, yellow, red, green....then I saw red was wrong...

I took them off and moved to the right place...the corners look a bit bad, but nothing big...

we can always make mistakes, even if we know the color scheme well and so...it's distraction or not thinking at all when putting the stickers :D

I would like to answer this by saying that I think it might really be worth your trouble to take the stickers off and go for a more normal color scheme. When I started speedcubing at the beginning of this year, originally all I had was a very old keychain cube which had the Japanese color scheme (blue opposite white) but with the red and orange stickers swapped. Since it was the only thing I knew, when I finally got new cubes, I immediately switched them to match the weird color scheme on my keychain cube. And now I find it difficult to solve other peoples' cubes.

If you will stick with the most standard color scheme available in your area, you'll have an easier time solving other people's cubes. For that reason, I recommend you switch back to a standard color scheme as early as possible so you won't be stuck like me with a weird color scheme. Maybe it's not such a great reason, but if you ever get stuck at a competition with a broken cube, at least this would make it more likely that you could find someone else to borrow a cube from that might be good enough for your needs.

By the way, I recently came across 2 early '80's cubes - the first two I ever owned - and they had the "Japanese color scheme", so perhaps calling it Japanese isn't fair - it's also an "early American" color scheme.

Well it's not really that strange of a color scheme that I have. All the same colors are touching. I only need to get used to orientating the last layer corners like this since thats that only place I notice it. Whenever I buy new stickers I will definetly put them on like most other cubes have them though for just the purpose you suggested.

I always use the same color scheme because if I don't do that, I'm very confused doing the cross.
