Okay, I can now finish a cube in less then 3 minutes, using a layer by layer technique.
Now I want to learn speedcubing.
Anyone has any hints for me on how I should do it?
Like what method I should use, how to learn the alchorithms, ...

P.s: my best time so far was 1 minute 34, and I don't think(using my method) I could get alot faster.

I suggest you start averaging at least under a minute before you start thinking about considering to switch over to a new method. Switching to a new method almost always means slower times. At this point your average may even jump up to 4 minutes and it will take a lot of effort to shave off seconds.

So I got to stick with my old method?
I don't know..

Here it is:
1) White cross
2) enter corners (full white + 1st layer)
3) 2nd layer
4) yellow cross
5) orient centre pieces
6) orient corners
7) turn corners

aren't there any steps I can do at once?

You certainly can. I also suggest stick with what you got for a while, but if you want to try something new then try placing the "white corners" and your "second layer" edges simultaneously. Just remember, it's all about practice.

Yes, there are. Generally, using Fridrich, you do cross, first 2 layers in 1 step, OLL, PLL. But, like everyone says, you should rather get your average down to about 55 seconds before using a new method. I was at 55 seconds when i started learning Fridrich.

mmmm, k
only doing this for 6 days so...
You shouldn't do things to hasty I guess :)

I'll try and get myself down to 1 minute now :D

Get yourself down a bit to get you looking ahead and using a little finger tricks.
After that or whenever you feel comfortable learn one of the more advanced methods.
Most people use either:
Fridrich
Petrus
Roux
Tho I'm sure there are some more.

thanks for all your replies :)
I know what my mistakes are and what to improve:
1) less thinking, more knowing, like after doing one algorithm I shouldn't be spending like 3 seconds looking for what I'm going to do next.
2) Get a new, and better cube
3) learn turning better and faster

try developing your own method to solve the cube..
i tried these and succeded:
-solving f2l then bottom (differently, doing tredges+f2l edges then cross edges
-corners first (before i found out it was an actual method, i did all the corners of the cube and then all the edges of the cube)
-make a corner/edge/corner pair on top and bottom then solve M and E layers

of coarse none of these were fast, but it certainly expanded my knowledge and helped me to understand the cube.

Try coming up with your own method, figure out the most effencient way you can solve it and practice it for a few days, see if you can get it pretty fast, and regardless if it's an actual method already, you still developed it on your own, and that's all that counts. Even if you can't get it fast.

-Smartyy!

i suggest that... try prakticing finger tricks... such as Index Finger for Up Face And Left Index For Up Inverted,, And Try To Look Ahead(While Prossesing the move.. try to look for others bec ur just performing an algorithm... its easy to memo) and best of all practice..hehehe:D
