Nowhereville. Seriously.
So, when solving 3x3, I hit OLL at about 20 seconds. However, this is very slow, compared to other cubers. So, any tips for speeding up? Also, can someone please explain what exactly is lookahead?

It takes me 30 seconds or more. :( I'll check the video now...

EDIT: Great video. Thanks for posting.

Worked fine for me.

In that video it has links to other videos with other tricks.

Going slow and looking a head is not the only way to speed up. Watch other F2L videos and you will pick up tricks to doing certain pairs easier.

For example, it was only about a month ago that I picked up this trick (only because in the video the guy is like 'oh everyone knows this one..').

For a case where the Corner Piece is in the U layer and the Edge piece is in the correct spot but incorrectly orientated you can do R U R' U' x 3 and you solve the case... what the -! I never knew that :)

Actually the case you describe Todd is the edge is in the right place and correctly oriented, the corner is what is oriented wrong (The U face has the color of your cross, and the two colors on the other sides of the corners are opposite of what the edge orientation is). That's when you do sexy move three times to place it :)

Or R2 U R2 U R2 U2 R2. During MSB I use R2 U R2 U' to solve an upside down corner.

Any move that brings a cross piece on top is a big no-no to me. It messes up my look ahead, which is already bad enough.

Ahh. I'm not sure what method you are using, but that explains why I had no idea what acronym you were using. Obviously it's some sort of block building method though :P Guessing not Roux, Petrus, or Heise?

Ok, I use a variant of Roux called Matt's Block (or MB), which could also be called Matt's Block Roux (or MBR). MBA is Step A, MBB is Step B, MBC is Step C and MBD is Step D.

Ahh, I gotcha. When I was doing keyhole back a few years ago, I stumbled upon the petrus method and thought it looked neat, but then I fell out of my cubing phase (I went through phases pretty bad the first few years I cubed. I cubed heavily for probably a year or two, doing keyhole method and doing a very poor set of OLL/PLL algs (somewhat equivalent to 4LLL but a lot worse algs) then after I reached a PB of 32 with a PLL skip I kept dropping it for a month, pick it back up for a month etc until I dedicated myself to learn Fridrich), and now I have too many goals to learn petrue roux and the other methods :P

Practice. Seriously. That's all there is to it. And lookahead.

What does it sound like to you? Look. Ahead. Make sure you know what turns you're gonna do next before you finish the moves you're currently performing.

This is actually a very nice move. I'll take a look at videos, if anyone has another one I would appreciate it :D

Btw, the very last U' of the alg (when you do it for the 3rd time is redundant. One move less :D

How very right you are, the funny thing is I was looking at my cube with that case as a typed it... lol :(

dada - I see that the last U' is redundant but 99/100 times I do it out of instinct :(

But yeah, it is frustrating to see videos and people talk about tricks as if everyone knows them.

Another one (from one of Erik's videos) -

When the Corner/Edge are correctly connected and in the right slot but facing up (if that makes sense) you can do (lets assume its the front left slot):

U L F' L' F L' U L

It's not redundant if you are setting that case up from a solved state :P But I am forced to agree that when you solve that case the last U' is quite unncessary :P
