Speed Stacks G4 timer issue

Hey guys so one time my speed stacks g4 timer was malfuctioning, and I ended up losing my saved times, and pressing the power button did nothing.

So I thought maybe it just needs new batteries? I gave it new batteries, (btw why are these tripple A batts wedged in so strongly? Had to pry it out using physics leverage and whatnot...) and it works again, saves my times, but the display is like.. 50% opacity compared to how it used to be.

Has this happened to anyone? What can I do to make the screen's darkness/opacity reach its original glory?

You are the first person I've ever seen who uses the timer save feature

Are you sure your new batteries are actually new?

And are your batteries actually of decent quality? A dim screen is almost surely due to using old batteries or very cheap ones.
