Aha. My modded one is a v4, the new one that I got from fasttech is a v5

No wonder it performed better right out of the box. I didn't even want to start modding it lol it's still plain jane.

There's really no need to mod it. It's great as is! Much better than the v4. Even the v3 was better than the v4, I'm not really sure why they made the v4.

What could this mean? Could the "v5" have been around for over half a year?

It doesn't seem like the true v4s were sold for very long

I think it depends where you buy it. Maybe some shops still had more V4s than others.
I've ordered mine on April 10th from zcube and received a V4.

Yes this is true I got mine from AliExpress back in November. I ordered a white one but they sent a black one but I didn't that much.

Totally possible! Better yet, check to see if it has the shaved bumps on the edge stalks, or the big bump on the centers.

So I decided to suck it up and pop a piece for the first time ever and it seems v5 according to your pictures.

So there's a chance my SS V4 might be a V5. I'll check when I get home.. I'm actually hoping mine is a V4 now since it had such a short production run. I'm sure in a year from now, some cuber will make a video on how the V4 is the fastest one and I can sell mine for $100.

Maybe the version everyone thinks is the v5 is just the v4b or v3c, did SS ever officially say which versions were which?

I've got the v5, and it has tons of internal lock ups. It will definately need to be konsta modded.

That's old news because there is a new and better 4x4 out now it's the Moyu WeiSu.
