Hi

I was wondering what the best way to do the RUR'U' cycle is... I realize that this is all personal preference, but the way I do it, it requires me to regrip the cube after each RUR'U'... Can you guys tell me how you hold the cube or maybe post a small video slowly explaining how you do the RUR'U' cycle? I'll try out all your suggestions and choose the one I like the best...

Thanks in advance,
Suhas

Right hand- Thumb on bottom edge piece of the right side, it will never be lifted off this piece. Middle and ring finger directly opposite thumb, on top, they are very briefly lifted for the U' turn only. Index finger on the top corner triggers U moves.

Left Hand- Pretty still as you hold the cube besides pulling the index for U' moves. Thumb is never taken off the front, neither are ring and middle fingers taken off the back. My pinky usually rests on the bottom. I also just noticed that I never take any left hand fingers off the cube. Even my index finger stays on the same corner piece the whole time.

All the work is done with the index fingers and everything else stays still with respect to the pieces they were originally on. of course your right hand will be doing the R/R' moves but it wont move relative to the right layer

I hope that helped a little.

I'm trying to get these finger tricks too... I'm sure once I get my DIY...

Anyway glad to know that I'm doing RUR'U' right.
Right index on U of FRU, middle and ring finger follow, right thumb on D of DRF.
Left thumb on F between L and M and left middle and ring finger doing the same on B, with left index on B of LUB.

Move going R, twist wrist with no finger change,U, flipped with right index finger, R', twist wrist with no finger change(except index is still off after flip), U' is flipped with left index and right middle+ring fingers lift during U' and reposition at initial positions (or where ever for next).

Nice video.

How do you do it for (RU'R'U)x2?
I find it best to start as above initial position, do R with right wrist, flip U' with right thumb, re-position right hand *yuck* with indexon D of DBRand middle finger following, and ring finger on D of FRD (3 fingers in a row) and right thumb on U of UFR with the edge cubie.Do R' with wrist, flip U with right index, then re-position right hand again to repeat.

I actually prefer RU'R'U much more than RUR'U' as it is noticeably faster. I actually start with doing U' though (edit, no sorry I start with U, so URU'R') but once you get the finger tricks it doesnt really matter which you start on.

To try and easily transfer into doing no cube rotations, try doing it like you normally would, when you do the first regrip after U' keep your right hand there and don't regrip it again. The next time you come to U', do it with your left index rather than your right thumb... you'll see why that regrip is entirely unnecessary.

What it really should look like before you start is just like the video above, except your right hand is mirroring your left rather than being on the top and bottom. As long as you do this and and only do U/U' with index fingers you should be fine

Another visual. I prefer RUR'U'. As you can tell. Not quite efficient with RU'R'U.

***WOW***
We should do the wiki on finger tricks!
I think I'm really starting to get it, my second one I wanted was R'URU' but I don't need to ask... now I'm going to go over ALL of my moves this weekend :D

rock on this is exactly what i was doing at my kitchen table today just made it up being bored and i did it exactly the same way

What's the most effective way to do a sune without regripping?

This is how I do it:
whole algo: (R U R') [ U ] (R U2 R')
(R U R') = normal, standard trigger, done with your right hand.
[ U ] = put your left index finger on the L sticker of LUB, and push, to do U. If you've done this in OH before, you should be comfortable with it. If not, just keep doing it, you'll get the hang of it.
(R U2 R') = another standard trigger, done with your right hand. The U2 is done with U with index, then U with middle (double trigger).
Here is a video of me doing Sune and Anti-Sune, but it's not that helpful because of the angle. The main idea to get from that video, is that for sune, use your left hand between the two right-hand triggers.

Can I just double check that you use your index finger on your left hand to do U'? If so, do you try to do it all in one movement (a full 90 degrees) or turn it 45 degrees with the index finger on one corner and then switch your index finger to (what is now) the top corner and then turn another 45 degrees?

(Hope that makes sense lol)
