Rubiks retooled 4x4 lockups

I bought the retooled rubiks revenge and it was the biggest mistake of my life... It lockups and is too loose. I tightened the screws and it doesnt pop anymore but im still having trouble with lock ups. I was wondering if there are any modifications to stop that and make it like an eastsheen or mefferts? I will buy one when im ready but not right now. Any help is appreciated like a guide to prevent lockups.
